What happens when there’s no such thing as a “dumb” device?
That’s the question that really captured me in this video from Ericsson - the generation born and growing up today will not know what it’s like to have electronics that don’t have connectivity. The prevailing concept will be that, if it’s got a battery, it’s connected to a network. How that changes our lives is a story yet to be told.
Flash is officially dead thanks to Google.
“Google has quietly released its new swiffy product that lets developers convert Flash SWF files to HTML5. For iPhone/iPod touch and iPad owners, this is yet another sign the days when some websites wouldn’t work via Mobile Safari are coming to an end.”

This is what the newspaper of the future looks like.
“Sony recently unveiled their latest electronic feat at the 49th SID International Symposium, Seminar & Exhibition (SID 2011), a paper thin e-reader — or e-paper — so flexible, it can be bent around a tiny radius of 5 mm.”
A YouTube takeover done the right way.
Very creative use of the page. Much more interactive than some of the other ones that I’ve seen.
Awesome YouTube Takeover from Desperado
This Takeover is really well executed. Not only does it have a bit of Facebook Connect, but it plays on UI features of YouTube in a really creative way (like using the ‘scrobbler’ to smash through the wall - inspired). Rarely does a YouTube takeover channel get this level of interactivity and customization. Very impressive work.

SXSW 2011 Trend Predictions:
- Designing for Digital Natives: All of a sudden, the people we design for have huge expectations for the technologies they allow into their lives. We predict a ton of amazing trends aimed at kids, teens and millennials.
- Typography makes a comeback: This one keeps giving and giving, every year amazing innovations are made in the growing world of digital typography. This year we expect more talk in innovation as well as a call to action to get back to paying homage to real typographic quality and design.
- Future of the Agency Model: Are we winning? Are we dying? Are we dinosaurs or Unicorns? We have our own opinions, bet you do as well. Expect the words “Race to the Middle” to hurt your brain by the end of the week. Have a cocktail, it helps.
- Death to Single-Screen Design: We all saw it coming, and here we are. It no longer makes sense to build basically anything that can’t be used on a mobile device. Predict lots of collective talking off the ledge — but we will make it through, promise.
- Relevance #FTW: We have thought for years that “What Matters” is what wins, and it seems that relevance and usefulness are truly rising to the top of our collective minds.
- Games!: ‘nuff said. Games are everywhere and becoming part of everything.
- Klout = CV: While we quickly develop new ways to document our existence and contributions to the world — the world is responding. Employers now expect professionals to show your work, build their own brand and manage relationships across jobs.
Hawtness. I am excited, you?
I can’t wait until every surface is multitouch. I also love the way that the devices transfer information between each other.

Great idea. Great experience & social connection between customers. I would try it out for sure.
I would imagine that this would be much safer than Chatroulette. Great idea.
Laughing? Thinking that this will never work. It will. Everything has a right moment and social media is just getting to a new phase. It all started with foursquare application, where you can just checkin from places that you have been and see discounts around you. Then facebook had a glimpse to the idea and decided to have a checkin feature like foursquare, the only difference was facebook has more user and yes, it is on an experimental phase but wait for a new level. WESC, one of my favourite Swedish fashion design brand, design these shoes with the almost same idea. I don’t think that they will grow big on this idea however the important point is society is getting ready for this new level of interaction by these small features. Just in two years we will be more and more attached virtually.

Teenagers visiting the Coca Cola Village amusement park were handed an RFID bracelet into which they could enter their Facebook login info, allowing them to “like” various attractions and activities throughout the park.
Visitors could also auto-tag themselves in any photo taken by an on-site photographer simply by flashing their bracelet.
